Is this the most annoying bingo TV advert?

Winner Bingo, which is owned by PT Entertainment Services, is renowned for its surreal and wacky television advertising campaign, but according to two viewers, this time it’s gone too far.

ASA investigation into Winner Bingo TV advert

Following the complaints that their adverts linked gambling to sexual success, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) launched an investigation into the advert. The advert, created by ad agency Creature of London, shows a man entering a living room where a woman is on the sofa playing bingo on a tablet device; there’s also an owl on a perch. Mr Winner wonders why Winner Bingo has so many winners, but he still has all his clothes on. The owl then says, “Your clothes are going to come off when someone wins aren’t they?” “YES! Yes they are,” exclaims Mr Winner, just as the woman in the room shouts “Bingo!”. Mr Winner then strips down to his gold boxers before telling viewers that they can deposit £10 and play with £60.

Humorous rather than sexual

Winner Bingo defended its campaign by stating that the advert was intended to be over the top and humorous, rather than sexual. Sanderson Jones, who played Mr Winner, was cast for his “comedic timing and delivery”, according to Winner Bingo. They went as far as saying that Mr Jones helped them avoid depicting a “bronzed muscled beefcake”, which could link sexual attractiveness to gambling. Fortunately for PT Entertainment Services, the ASA didn’t uphold the complaints from the viewers, stating that the advert was clearly intending to be “surreal and comedic”. They also said that no part of it linked gambling to sexual success or enhanced attractiveness.

What we think at Top Online Bingo Sites

On a personal note, we find this bingo advert incredibly annoying. Meaning that Winner Bingo have actually done a really top notch job in creating a memorable TV advert that sadly you will not forget in a hurry. Some of the comments on You Tube relating to the advert made us chuckle, this one in particular: YouTube Winner Bingo comment Quite honestly we couldn’t find anything sexual about Sanderson Jones, he’s not really pin-up material for most of us. David Beckham on the other hand….
